Tear It up – The Johnny Burnette Rock & Roll Trio

Here’s the classic first single from Johnny Burnette Rock & Roll Trio. In the studio the Drums were credited to Eddie Gray. The Rock & Roll Trio didn’t bill a drummer, eventually they settled on Carl Perkins cousin Tony Austin for the skins.

Blue Suede Shoes – Fluke Holland

Let’s kick things off with Carl Perkins – Blue Suede Shoes – featuring W.S. “Fluke” Holland on drums. Interestingly enough Fluke borrowed a drum kit at the request of Carl Perkins to sit in on Carl’s audition session for Sun Records. Fluke had never played drums before! A two week tour offer from Johnny Cash led to a 40 year career as the man in Blacks full time drummer. Fluke is a member Rock & Roll hall of fame.
