Woodoo Doll – Tom Stormy

September 2, 2011

Mystery Gang certainly lives up to their name. I stumbled upon this cool little toe tapper and wanted to post it up and give props to the resident drummer and that’s where Mystery Gang swung into action it took a while but i finally got it Tom Stormy is the drummer in question, skipping along with his piccolo snare, infectious.

Adventures through inner space – Dave Klein

July 21, 2011

I first picked up on the Bombora’s while on tour in Cali. They are an uber cool act and as usual, i was drawn to the drums. Dave Klein really kills it with his peppy, snappy playing just cutting through that wall of guitar and organ. I hear he is touring with Agent Orange at the moment. Bang up job Dave!!!! Drop us a line and let us know what your up too!!!!

Haulin Hearse – Baron Shivers

February 20, 2011

The Ghastly Ones hail from Van Nuys, CA. Baron Shivers is the ghoul driving the kit with lightning snare fills. The Ghastly’s Ones have an old school surf-horror sound all of their own. They look like the house band for some of Vincent Prices wilder parties. Come on in and surf for a while?

Liam Crill Interview

January 18, 2011

Krash Boom Bam recently had a chat with none other than Liam Crill the driving force behind the Kings of Nuthin. We asked Liam about his gig, his gear and his wisdom. This is what Liam had to say…

what kind of set up are you using?
what do you use for heads, cymbals, sticks, kick pedal, snare?

my kit is a ’64 slingerland- 20″ bass drum, 16″ floor tom, a series zildjin medium ride and some hunk a shit crash cymbal i found in the trash. for snare i use a 70s ludwig acrolyte or the bad ass 60s gretsch aluminum shell snare i found in the same dumpster i found the crash, i usually use remo ambassador heads, vicfirth 5b wood tips. for kick pedal i use ludwig speed king. the 70s models seem to hold up better than the modern ones- they’re great- fast, good response and they take an ass whuppin’.

who are your fave players?

earl palmer was the best- all his new orleans r&b sessions are incredible. scott pittman, is my favorite modern drummer. he played in a boston band called the shods and plays with the frank morey band nowadays. the guy is amazing to watch live, can’t ever see his hands…

Nick Nicholls – Gamblin’ Man

October 16, 2010

When Rockabilly erupted from the British shores it was known as skiffle. Lonnie Donegan was the biggest star in the UK prior to the Beatles taking the world by storm, in fact this song was Number 1 on the UK charts in July 1957 when John Lennon met Paul McCartney for the first time at a Quarrymen show. Nick Nicholls really steals the show on this tune with his lightning quick blistering solo. Well done Nick!!! Krash Boom Bam would love an interview if you’re available? Drop us a line, enjoy!!!

Eddie Cochran – Summertimes Blues

September 13, 2010

Well the forces of evil have conspired big time to obscure the name of the drummer on this track. I have tried a bunch of different searches to locate the drummer and none have panned out so far, so if you know who it is then please let us know here at Krash Boom Bam! Since today was a typical rainy day this is a great fall song lamenting the days of a Summer just gone by. So remember there ain’t no cure for the Summertime Blues. If you wanna live a little, check out the Blue Cheer version of this tune, where they kick the drums up a notch!
