Surf

Surf began with the instrumentals of Dick Dale which were inspired by the sounds he heard out in the waves as a surfer off the coast of California in 1960. The music by this time had started to move into a more straight ahead “modern rock” beat with less emphasis on the previous generations input of swing beats. The most famous of the drum songs to come out of this era is the Safaris surf anthem “Wipeout”.
