Everybodies trying to be my Baby – Fluke Holland

October 12, 2011

Fluke Holland drives the rhythm section for this Carl Perkins hit. The stops in this song are where i cut my teeth. Songs like this one are the reason that Carl was voted the King of Rockabilly… and Fluke was right there by his side. Fluke once saved Carl from drowning in a ditch after an accident on their way to New York, for an appearance on The Perry Como Show. Everybodies trying to be my Baby was among the half dozen songs that Carl and the boys recorded after recuperating from the accident.

Blue Suede Shoes – Fluke Holland

October 27, 2009

Let’s kick things off with Carl Perkins – Blue Suede Shoes – featuring W.S. “Fluke” Holland on drums. Interestingly enough Fluke borrowed a drum kit at the request of Carl Perkins to sit in on Carl’s audition session for Sun Records. Fluke had never played drums before! A two week tour offer from Johnny Cash led to a 40 year career as the man in Blacks full time drummer. Fluke is a member Rock & Roll hall of fame.
